Privacy policy
Karleef (Lombaardenstraat 44, 3000 Leuven, BE 1015.175.967) is responsible for the processing of your personal data and processes it in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Belgian legislation. For questions about this statement or about your data, you can contact karleef.foto@dekneef.be.
We collect as little data as possible. This website has no customer accounts, no advertising and no profiling.
Which data do we process, why and on what basis?
- Contact form. Your name, email address and message. Purpose: to answer your question and, where applicable, to prepare a quote or appointment. Basis: your consent (the box you tick) and our legitimate interest in answering visitors’ questions (Art. 6.1 a and f GDPR).
- Assignments, quotes and orders. Contact details, billing and delivery address, the details of the assignment or order and the payment status. Purpose: to perform the agreement, deliver and invoice. Basis: performance of a contract and legal obligations, such as bookkeeping (Art. 6.1 b and c GDPR). Payments via the web shop are handled by Stripe; we never see your full card details.
- Images of people. Photos and videos in which clients or models are recognisable are used in our portfolio, on the website or on social media only with their consent or in line with the agreements made for the assignment. You can always withdraw that consent for future use by contacting us.
- Technical data. When you visit the website, our hosting provider receives technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested (server logs), for the security and proper functioning of the site (legitimate interest, Art. 6.1 f GDPR). For aggregated visitor figures we use Cloudflare Web Analytics; this service works without cookies and does not track you across websites.
With whom do we share data?
We never sell your data. We use service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting of the website, spam protection of the contact form (Cloudflare Turnstile) and visitor figures (Web Analytics).
- Resend — sending the email message generated by the contact form.
- Stripe — handling payments when you order a print (as soon as the web shop is live).
- Our email and bookkeeping environment, for correspondence and invoicing.
Some of these parties are established in the United States. Transfers take place on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission. Otherwise we only share your data with third parties if a law obliges us to do so.
How long do we keep data?
- Messages via the contact form: as long as necessary to handle your question, and afterwards for a maximum of 2 years.
- Data about assignments, orders and invoices: 7 years, the statutory retention period for accounting documents.
- Server logs and visitor figures: according to Cloudflare’s (short) retention periods.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and portability of your personal data. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interest, and you can withdraw consent you have given at any time. To do so, send an email to karleef.foto@dekneef.be; we will reply within one month.
Complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels – contact@apd-gba.be – www.gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).
The use of “cookies”
A cookie is a small text file that a website can place in the browser of your computer or mobile device.
This website does not place any cookies itself and does not use tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. That is why we do not show a cookie banner. Two things are good to know:
- On the contact page, the Cloudflare Turnstile spam check loads a script from Cloudflare to verify that you are not a robot. This serves solely to protect the form and not for advertising or tracking your browsing behaviour.
- If you follow a link to another website, for example Instagram, the privacy and cookie policy of that website applies.
You can set your internet browser to refuse cookies, to warn you when a cookie is placed, or to delete cookies afterwards. You can do this via your browser settings (via the help function).
Changes
We may amend this statement, for example when the web shop goes live. The most recent version is always on this page. Last updated on 10 October 2026.
